The Twin City Garden Club hosted a memorial tree planting at Proctor Park Saturday, Sept. 30, in memory of USMC Lance Corporal Leon Deraps, who was killed in action in Iraq May 6, 2006.

The boy scouts opened the ceremony with the Pledge of Allegiance. The tree was then planted in the southwest area of Proctor Park.

Gerhart spoke after the planting. Following the dedication of the tree, Pagel closed the ceremony with a prayer.
